Lauren Manninen is an Iowan native and received her degree in Fine Arts from the Minneapolis College of Art in Design in 2014.

She is interested in the meditative act of making, in being completely in the moment of creation. Though she has worked in a variety of other mediums (woodworking, fiber art, bookbinding) it is the conversation she has with the canvas that leaves her feeling invigorated and endlessly curious about where the brush will lead her next.

Her work is informed by abstract expressionism, Zen Buddhist practice, and time spent studying art in Japan. Oh, and don't forget her two studio assistants, her cats.
