Mount Vernon Sculpture Trail in Development

In partnership with Mount Vernon Parks and Recreation and the City of Mount Vernon, the Mount Vernon Area Arts Council is seeking Requests for Qualifications for the first piece in a new sculpture trail in Mount Vernon, Iowa. The sculpture trail will be an ongoing project and new pieces of artwork will be added on an annual basis in the area from Nature Park to Elliott Park.

Interested artists should review our Request for Proposals document to submit their interest. From the received RFQs, two finalists will be selected. Each finalist will be asked to create a detailed rendering and present their proposed artwork to the selection committee. The finalists will each receive a $250 stipend for their proposal. The chosen finalist will work with the selection committee to install their piece by the end of 2023. Should a finalist offer an existing piece, the $250 proposal stipend is withdrawn.
