Mount Vernon Poet Laureate to Present Original Poem at Memorial Day Ceremony

Mount Vernon Poet Laureate Amelia Kibbie will present an original poem at the Mount Vernon Memorial Day event on Monday, May 31, 2021. The event begins at 9:00 AM with a parade from Mount Vernon City Hall to the Mount Vernon Cemetery. The ceremony at the cemetery will begin at 9:30 AM. In addition to Kibbie’s original poem, the ceremony will also feature the Avenue of Flags. The event is organized by The American Legion Post 480 and the Legion Auxiliary.

If it is raining, the alternate location for the event is Mount Vernon High School. The poet laureate is supported by the Mount Vernon Area Arts Council.
