MVAAC Awards Grants

In recent months, the Mount Vernon Area Arts Council (MVAAC) awarded $500 grants for kilns and a Shakespeare production.

Mount Vernon elementary and middle school art programs received MVAAC grants in support of new electric kilns. “We have the kiln up and running and are elbow deep in clay and glaze projects,” reports art teacher Sara Lenhart. “Thank you for investing in our student artists.”

Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Theatre was awarded a grant for its 2022 summer production of William Shakespeare’s As You Like It. This is the second year MVAAC has supported Shakespeare in Mount Vernon’s Memorial Park. (Photo) 2021 production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

In the past five years, more than $15,000 has been awarded for arts & culture projects and programs by the MVAAC board.
