Support

Thank You

The mission of the Mount Vernon Area Arts Council is to keep the arts at the heart of our community. Our role is to advocate for the arts in Mount Vernon/ Lisbon through strategic partnerships, grant making, marketing, events and direct support for our local community and artists.

We believe the arts are the cornerstone of what makes the Mount Vernon area such a great place to live and visit. Our two annual events, Lincoln Highway Arts Festival and Chalk the Walk, draw over 30,000 visitors stimulating the local creative economy. The arts improve the image and identity of our community through creative placemaking and public art. In addition, arts programs help to unify our communities regardless of age, race, gender, or class; positively impact our education system; and improve the overall health of our citizens. Investing in the arts is a real investment in the Mount Vernon area.

“MVAAC helped make the 2019 production of The Hundred Dresses, a play for children, accessible to the deaf community by donating funds to hire American Sign Language interpreters for one of the matinee performances.”

— - Amy White, Mount Vernon-Lisbon Community Theatre

“MVAAC’s support has allowed us to reach hundreds of children this past year with our concerts as well as our monthly educational programs for 3 preschool classes and the MV Begindergarten class. We are honored to help prepare these students for their future music endeavors.

— Braden Rood, Balderdash Ditty

“The grant allowed the Uptown Theatre Honors tradition of honoring area artists, actors, musicians, educators, and supporters of the arts for their lifelong commitment to arts in Eastern Iowa to continue.”

— Lisa White, Uptown Theatre Honors President
